Eshé (Mary J.) and Malika (Osheyo) grew up on the Anansi the Spider folktales. Sourced from
the Ashanti Akan in Ghana, the Anansi stories are one of the few vestiges of African culture that
managed to remain intact through the Middle Passage.
With a combined 8+ years experience leading walking tours in New Orleans, it is our pleasure to
serve as this generations’ griots. The art of storytelling goes beyond scene, plot and characters~
especially in New Orleans. You can feel the stories in the humidity, weighing down the air of the
city. Sharing them with others is how we keep breathing.
Both guides are High Priestesses of Louisiana Plantation Vodou, avid readers, writers and
performers. We absolutely love what we do, and we can’t wait to take you around the nation’s
most haunted, whimsical, artistic, musical and colorful city.
